A Challenge To Preach Out Of Sequence
June 30, 2010In his recent blogpost “Some Thoughts on Pulpit Methodology”, Iain D. Campbell challenges the prevailing wisdom in some evangelical circles that sequential exposition is always best. While I probably won’t change my prevailing pattern (I mainly preach through books), it reminded me not to put a straightjacket on preaching method.
God can use sequenced or unsequenced preaching. Just let us be biblical!

Good point, we should get too confining. But I do think a preacher can take a text out of sequence and preach it expositionally. However, we can never do the all too common, find a verse to make my point, string three together and your done. Thats fortune cookie hermeneutics not preaching.
