Regarding the fourth issue of just taking a Hebrew or Greek bible into the pulpit, the first time I saw this done was at the Servants of the Word conference in the Tron, Glasgow, last summer. Ralph Davies preached from a series of OT texts and translated as he went. It was a really eye-opening experience and greatly helped the power of his exposition of the text. I remember the one on Ruth in particular, when he brought to life God’s obsession with Naomi throughout the book. It almost makes me want to learn Hebrew…maybe one day…
