Today’s post title is a question Alistair Begg has answered in the following short article. His summary answer: “Because of a loss of confidence in the Scriptures, preoccupation with the wrong battles, and a sad lack of excellent role models, many preachers compromise on their calling and revert to the expectations of the culture.” Read the whole article, courtesy of Crossway, over at ByFaithOnline.

    Preaching, like other good gifts of God, has been abused.
    …a danger is that far more time may be given to singing than listening to God through His Word.
    …worship is not limited to singing but it includes careful listening to God and joyful submission to His Word.” (Pages 124-125)
