Powerpoint is “Bad for Brains”
May 1, 2007My colleague James Anderson pointed me to an interesting article that contributes to a previous debate we had on this blog about Powerpoint. Powerpoint, according to some scientists, is inherently unhelpful. And who can argue with Science?!
I suspect that the reason, at least in part, is because many (if not most) misuese powerpoint. They use it to convey information, when it ought to used to underscore the spoken word, to punctuate and illustrate. Now certainly, one can crate standalone presentations that are full of content by necessity, but it is a mistake use that same “kind” of presentation to illustrate a talk, sales pitch, sermon, etc.
