The Secret to Preaching Old Testament
March 30, 2011Dale Ralph Davis has a great technique for producing better Old Testament expositions:
I think the best process is for a guy to have a fascination with OT texts and a determination to preach them.
Read his whole interview at The Gospel Coalition.
As a pastor, I really appreciate this article. Especially the line, “I prefer commentaries that focus on the meaning of the text (rather than go through 200 years of scholarly guesswork on how the text came together.” This is spot on the mark. I really believe we miss the whole picture when we stick only with the New Testament since the book of Deuteronomy is just as inspired as the Gospel of Luke. Fine work.
